NORTHERN STATE ROLLS OVER UM-CROOKSTON

Jan. 3, 2000

All 16 players on Northern State's  roster saw considerable playing time as the Wolves lit up Minnesota-Crookston 87-43 Monday night in Wachs Arena. After losing their first game of the season, the Wolves (14-1 overall, 4-0 NSIC), notched their 14th straight win. It is the program's longest winning streak since the 1993-94 season, when NSU rebounded from a season-opening loss to ring up 32 straight wins and claim the NAIA national championship. Currently, NSU is ranked first in the North Central Region and 21st in the nation.

Sophomore guard Holly Schaunaman (Leola) led NSU with 15 points. All but two Wolves players broke into the scoring column and no player saw 20 minutes of action as Northern's starting five took control early to allow for massive and deep substitutions. Senior guard Amanda Mikuska (Platte) surpassed former NSU standout and current assistant coach Paula Krueger to move into fourth place on NSU's all-time steals list. Mikuska ended with a game-high four thefts on the night to put her career total at 188. Jenny Reimer led UMC (0-12, 0-4) with 12 points.

Although the Wolves didn't shoot well, going just 29-of-84 (35 percent) for the game, they made up for it by dominating the boards. NSU outrebounded UMC 63-42. An even more indicative sign of how the game went: NSU had more offensive rebounds (32) than defensive (31).

NSU travels to Minnesota-Duluth and Bemidji State Jan. 7 and 8.
