NORTHERN STATE  STEAMROLLS UM-MORRIS

Jan. 15, 2000

Minnesota-Morris scored the first two points of the game in its contest against Northern State Saturday night. The Wolves scored the next 37 to more than set the tone in what ended up a 91-34 blowout in the Barnett Center. The Wolves are ranked first in the North Central Region and 18th in the nation.

All 16 of Northern's players saw minutes; 15 scored. Senior guard Jammie Coyle (Belle Fourche) led all scorers and rebounders with 16 points and nine rebounds in 18 minutes. True freshman Brandy Warne was next on NSU's scoring list with a career-high 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting. Erin Reger led UMM (2-12, 1-6 NSIC) with nine points.

Northern (16-2, 6-1 NSIC) built a 50-12 halftime lead and held UMM to 14 percent shooting in the first stanza. NSU also owned the glass, outrebounding Morris 65-24. In fact, NSU had more offensive boards (28) than UMM had total rebounds (24). The 57-point victory wasn't the biggest margin of victory in NSU history, however. The Wolves defeated Concordia-St. Paul 125-40 during the 1994-95 season. NSU plays C-SP, a new member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, next Friday at the Barnett Center.
