WOLVES COAST BY CONCORDIA-ST. PAUL

Jan. 21, 2000

It was a night of milestones and near milestones in Northern State's 95-65 thrashing of Concordia-St. Paul Friday night in the Barnett Center.

Senior guard Jammie Coyle (Belle Fourche) moved into second on NSU's career scoring list, surpassing Renee Ruesink (1,638 points from 1984-88). Coyle ended the night with a game-high 22 points in only 21 minutes of work. She now has 1,647 career points.

Senior guard Amanda Mikuska (Platte) game-high four assists put her tied at fourth on NSU's career assists list with Deb Esche's mark of 361 dishes from 1980-84. Mikuska will likely move into third place on the list Saturday night when the Wolves host Winona State. Third on the assists list is Julie Jensen, who dished out 363 assists from 1991-95.

NSU head coach Curt Fredrickson drew ever closer to a major milestone with his 498th career victory Friday night.

As far as the game went, NSU (17-2, 7-1 NSIC; ranked 16th in the nation and first in the North Central Region) was simply too much for conference newcomer C-SP (1-13, 1-7 NSIC). The Wolves built a 54-36 halftime lead and were never threatened. Junior post Jennifer Murphy (Aberdeen) came back strong from a shoulder injury that had her in civilian clothes last week, scoring 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting. Sophomore power forward Shanna Dahl (St. Cloud, Minn.) tied a career high with 10 points to go with nine rebounds. Junior Natalie Braun (Warner) also nearly netted a double-double from the power forward slot, grabbing nine boards to go with nine points.
