A Tracy Williamson 3-pointer with three seconds remaining ended up being the dagger, but certainly not the only clutch shot from downtown by Wayne State College (Neb.), which defeated No. 14 Northern State 69-66 Saturday night in Aberdeen.
The Wildcats (12-6, 8-3 NSIC) were 50 percent for the game and 60 percent in the second half from 3-point range, including seven-of-nine from downtown in the last 10 minutes of the game to turn a comfortable double-digit NSU lead into an upset win.
Doing most of the damage was Williamson and guard Sara Miller, both of whom hit five treys for the game and ended with game-highs in 17 points. WSC ended the contest 13-of-26 from downtown.
Northern State (18-4, 8-3 NSIC) out-rebounded WSC 38-22, led by junior forward Natalie Braun's (Warner) 10 rebounds. Braun recorded her fourth double-double of the season with a team-high 13 points to add to her rebound output. Fellow junior forward Memory Johannsen (Tolstoy) rounded out NSU's double-digit scorers with 12 points.
