WOLVES DOMINATE DRAGONS AT MOORHEAD STATE

Feb. 5, 2000

Northern State, playing in its first full game without leading rebounder in power forward Natalie Braun (Warner), had other players step up production in a business-as-usual 80-53 dispatching of Moorhead State in Moorhead Saturday night.

Braun, the team's leading double-double performer this season, went down with a knee injury Friday night in Crookston, Minn. Coming up with a double-double in her stead at Moorhead State was senior guard Jammie Coyle (Belle Fourche), who recorded game-highs in points (20) and rebounds (11). It was Coyle's fifth double-double this season. Junior forward Memory Johannsen (Tolstoy) was right behind Coyle, almost coming up with a double-double of her own with 15 points to go with nine boards. Senior guard Amanda Mikuska (Platte)v rounded out NSU's double-digit scorers with 11 points, which included a 3-of-5 line from 3-point range. Katie Doerr led MSU with 13 points.

Sophomore post Shanna Dahl (St. Cloud, Minn.) made a solid first career start, taking Braun's spot at the four slot. Dahl scored six points. Freshman Shanna Theobold (Brookings) also saw more time on the court due to Braun's injury and responded with five points.

After building a 36-27 halftime edge, NSU (20-4, 10-3 NSIC) methodically built its lead into double digits in the second half and kept on building until the final buzzer. NSU outrebounded MSU 48-30 and held the Dragons (6-15, 5-8) to 30 percent shooting.
