WOLVES BLAST BEAVERS

Feb. 11, 2000

Bemidji State managed to hang in the game for the first 10 minutes, but were then overwhelmed by a Northern State team that proved it has answers to adversity in a 91-64 win Friday night in the Barnett Center. NSU is ranked 19th nationally and third in the North Central Region.

After losing the team's leading rebounder, junior Natalie Braun (Warner), for the season last weekend due to a knee injury, NSU's replacement at the power forward slot had a career night. Sophomore post Shanna Dahl (St. Cloud, Minn.) led all scorers with a career-high 20 pointson marksmanlike 10-of-13 shooting  to go with eight rebounds. Also stepping up even more than usual was junior forward Memory Johannsen (Tolstoy), who talled her first double-double of the season with 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds to go with another game high of five assists. Rounding out NSU's double-digit performers were senior guards Jammie Coyle (Belle Fourche) and Amanda Mikuska (Platte), who netted 16 and 13, respectively. Jennifer Ohme led BSU (7-14 overall, 5-8 NSIC) with 16 points.

NSU (21-4, 11-3) dominated every phase of the game, holding Bemidji State to just 32 percent shooting and out-rebounding the Beavers 61-35. NSU led by at least 20 points for nearly all of the second half.
