WOLVES OVERPOWER MINNESOTA-CROOKSTON

Feb. 2, 2001

Seventeen Northern State players saw action and each of them broke into the scoring column in their team's dominating 93-65 win over Minnesota-Crookston Friday night in Aberdeen.

After a slow start, Northern (11-8, 7-4 NSIC) built a 39-32 halftime lead. Midway through the second half, the floodgates opened as NSU's full-court pressure and all-around play proved too much for UMC (6-15, 2-10 NSIC). The Wolves forced 29 turnovers on the night and out-rebounded the Golden Eagles 45-29.

NSU was led by freshman sensation Carin Rambow (Litchfield, Minn.), who scored a career-high 16 points on the night. Rambow's assault also included four 3-pointers, which already moves her just two treys away from tying for ninth on NSU's career 3-pointers list with Jennifer Winckler, who hit 33 treys during her career from 1994-98.

Also scoring in double-digits for NSU was junior post Shanna Dahl (St. Cloud, Minn.), with 14 points. Senior post Jennifer Murphy (Aberdeen) led the team in rebounding with eight boards to go with nine points. Most of that statline was built in the first half. UMC was led by McKenzie Smith's 17 points and seven rebounds.
