Northern State defeated Minnesota-Morris 88-60 Saturday night in Morris. The Wolves played the Cougars in Aberdeen Feb. 14, winning 103-49. That was a make-up game from Jan. 13, which was postponed due to snow.
As in the first game this week, the Wolves took control of the game from the outset and were able to let their reserves see quality playing time throughout the contest. Senior forward Memory Johannsen (Tolstoy) led NSU in scoring with 17 points. Sophomore forward Shana Theobald (Brookings) registered 14 points, followed by junior point guard Sara Hemquist (Baxter, Minn.) with 11. Sophomore post Tia Michalski (Willow Lake) led NSU on the boards with seven rebounds to go with eight points. Kimi Bragdon recorded a double-double for UMM with 16 points and 11 boards.
In all, 16 players saw the court for NSU. The Wolves won the game in
the first stanza with a 50-20 halftime advantage and out-rebounded the
Cougars 51-37 for the game.
