Northern State couldn't kick its offense into gear in Saturday night's 79-53 loss to South Dakota in the final game of the NSU-Super 8 Tip-Off Classic.
In the early game, Wayne State (Neb.) defeated Morningside College 72-63. The Wildcats went 2-0 over the two-day classic, while Morningside and USD finished 1-1. NSU went 0-2.
The Wolves shot just 21 percent in the first half and found themselves in a 38-22 hole going into half time. The shooting woes only grew worse as the second half began, allowing USD put together a 16-4 run and build an insurmountable 28-point lead.
NSU was led by junior point guard Holly Schaunaman (Leola), who scored 12 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Senior forward Memory Johannsen (Tolstoy) netted 10 points to go with seven boards.
NSU's next action is on the road at Augustana College Tuesday, Sept.
