Northern State showed flashes of brilliance but came up just short in an 81-76 overtime loss to unbeaten Missouri Western State at the Nebraska-Kearney Thanksgiving Tournament Friday. The loss pits the Wolves against Texas Woman's University Saturday for the consolation round.

NSU was led by junior guard Holly Schaunaman (Leola), who scored 17 points to go with four steals. Senior forward Natalie Braun (Warner) led the boards crew with 11 to go with nine points. Fellow senior forward Memory Johannsen (Tolstoy) and freshman guard Jessica Braun (Warner) rounded out NSU's double-digit scorers with 12 points apiece.

NSU held a 31-25 lead at the half and despite dominating the boards the entire game (55-37 advantage), were unable to prevent the Lady Griffons from coming back to draw even at the end of regulation. Missouri Western drew even from a 12-point deficit with a 23-11 run with less than nine minutes remaining in the second half.
