WOLVES
BLAST BEMIDJI STATE
Jan. 12,
2002
Northern
led 28-8 at halftime and cruised to a 62-41 win over Bemidji
State Saturday night in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference
game in Bemidji, Minn.
Senior
guard Amanda Dietrich (Mandan, N.D.) scored a career-high
14 points including a 4-of-6 performance from 3-point range.
Junior forward Shana Theobald (Brookings) rounded out NSU's
double digit scorers with 11 points. Hard-nosed sophomore
forward Amanda Mollman (McIntosh) grabbed a career-best eight
rebounds to lead the team on the boards. BSU (3-12, 1-6 NSIC)
was led by Amber Graf's 14 points.
NSU's
offense didn't have a great first half, but it didn't need
one. On the defensive end, the Wolves held BSU to just 18
percent shooting in the first half and 31 percent for the
game.
With the
weekend split and a Southwest State loss at Wayne State, the
Wolves (11-5, 6-2 NSIC) will find themselves atop the NSIC
standings again this week. NSU rounds out the first half of
league play next Saturday with a home game against travel
partner Minnesota-Morris.
