WOLVES
TOO MUCH FOR MORRIS
Jan. 19,
2002

Pick-pocket
cashes in -- Senior Sarah Hemquist
scores off of one of her team-high four steals Saturday
night against Minnesota-Morris. |
Senior
point guard and Leola, S.D., native Holly Schaunaman was showered
with flowers and much love by a large contingent of hometown
fans before Saturday night's home game with Minnesota-Morris.
After
seeing how easily she scored 15 points in just 12 minutes
of work during Northern's 100-51 rout of the Cougars, the
Leola loyalists may want to look into getting their star a
key to the city.
Schaunaman
led NSU's starting five to a 17-3 run during the first five
minutes of the game and Northern never looked back. She was
one of four players to reach double figures and one of 18
Wolves to see time during the game. No player clocked over
15 minutes, giving NSU's junior varsity and underclassmen
players a good opportunity for experience.
While
Schaunaman's 15 on 6-of-8 shooting led the Wolves in scoring,
sophomore forward Amanda Mollman (McIntosh) led the Wolves
on the boards with seven rebounds. Minnesota-Morris (0-17,
0-9 NSIC) was led by Kimi Bragdon's 15 points.
With the
win, Northern ended the first half of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate
Conference schedule tied atop the standings with Concordia-St.
Paul and Southwest State. The Wolves (12-5, 7-2 NSIC) travel
to C-SP (15-4, 7-2 NSIC) next weekend. The week after that,
NSU hosts Southwest State (12-5, 7-2 NSIC).
