POOR
SECOND HALF DOOMS WOLVES AGAIN
Feb. 9,
2002
The game
began just as it had the night before in Minnesota-Crookston.
Northern State gained control of the first half and went into
the locker rooms with a 10-point lead at Minnesota State-Moorhead
(40-30) Saturday night.
Unfortunately,
the second half for the Wolves was also familiar; and it played
out like more of a recurring nightmare as MSUM came back to
post a 68-63 win over NSU in Northern Sun Intercollegiate
Conference action.
Northern
shot 27 percent from the field in the second half and scored
just 23 points in the second stanza.
MSUM's
Kris Wilson came up big for the Dragons, scoring 24 points
on 6-of-9 shooting from 3-point range. NSU was led by senior
guard Holly Schaunaman (Leola), who posted 14 points. Senior
forward Jodi Purath (Red Lake Falls, Minn.) and junior forward
Shana Theobald (Brookings) scored 11 apiece to round out NSU's
double-digit scorers.
The loss
dropped NSU to 15-8 overall and 10-5 in the NSIC. MSUM improved
to 13-9 overall 9-5 in the NSIC.
