WOLVES FALL HARD AT STATE

Northern State had no answers at No. 13 South Dakota State Saturday night, falling 89-57 in the team's final pre-conference tune up.

NSU (4-2) fell behind 41-26 in the first half and couldn't recover. The team chipped the lead down to 10 points with 13 minutes remaining, but SDSU answered with an 8-0 run and never looked back. The Jackrabbits connected on 13 of 36 3-pointers on the night and shot 52 percent from the field in the second half to overwhelm the Wolves, who shot less than 30 percent from the field for the game.

NSU was led by redshirt freshman Natalie Hopkins (St. Louis Park, Minn.), who scored 10 points. Sophomore Amanda Mollman (McIntosh, S.D.) grabbed a team-high seven rebounds including six offensive boards for the Wolves in 10 minutes of play.

The Jackrabbits (8-1), were led by Brenda Davis, who scored 25 points including six 3-pointers. Melissa Pater scored a double-double with 21 points and 11 boards.

Northern opens the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference season Friday against Concordia-St. Paul. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. in the Barnett Center.
