WAYNE, NEB.-- The Northern State women's basketball began its season with an 0-2 record as they finished the Wayne State Tip-Off Classic with a 70-58 loss to Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday.

The Wolves fell behind by as many as eight in the first half when UNO went up 22-14 with 7:20 remaining in the half, but NSU fought back with an 8-0 run in the final 2:05 to give them a 33-30 advantage heading into the locker room.

The Mavericks came out hot in the second half outscoring Northern 15-4 in the first nine minutes and taking the lead 45-37. NSU would draw within five just minutes later but that's as close as the Wolves would come as Omaha held on for the 12-point victory.

NSU's Michelle Hanson led the team scoring 11 points and going 5-of-7 from the foul line. Shana Theobald hit for ten for the Wolves. Hanson led NSU on the boards collecting nine on the evening.
