Northern Drops Conference Opener to Concordia

St. Paul, Minn..-- The Northern State women's basketball team dropped its fourth straight game on Sunday night as Concordia-St. Paul handed the Wolves a 84-57 setback in NSU's conference-opening matchup.

The Wolves jumped out to a fast start leading 12-5, five minutes into the game. But the Bears came storming back rolling off nine straight to regain a lead that they would not relenquish for the remainder of the night.

Concordia built its lead to 17 at the halftime break as they took a 44-27 advantage into the locker room.

The Wolves cut the lead to 15 with 17:04 to play, but that was as close as they would get for the rest of the night as the Bears claimed the 84-57 victory.

--Amber Powell led Northern State in scoring with a career high ten points.

--Amanda Mollman paced the Wolves by pulling down a career high nine rebounds.

--Northern won the battle on the boards earning 44 rebounds compared to CSP's 41.

--Northern shot 47.1 percent from three-point range (8-of-17) while hitting on just 38.6 percent from the floor (22-of-57) on the night.

--Concordia was led by Carly Christensen who came off the bench to notch 20 points.

--Northern State plays at Winona State on Monday night at 5:30 p.m.
