Northern Suffers Sixth Straight Loss in 65-60 Setback to Wayne State

NSU's Liza Sizer hit a career high 16 points in Friday's loss to Wayne State.

Aberdeen, S.D.-- The Northern State women dropped their sixth straight game on Friday night as Wayne State snuck by the Wolves 65-60 in NSIC action.

Northern kept the game within reach all night as the Wildcats built a lead as large as 12 in the first half.

But the Wolves turned a 35-27 halftime deficit into a 43-42 lead with 12:00 to play in the game.

The Wolves increased their lead to five at 47-42 with 8:46 to play but the Wildcats used an 11-2 run in the next 2:30 to take the lead back at 53-49.

Wayne State then pulled away from the Wolves and built its lead to ten before NSU finished the game down five at 65-60.

--NSU sophomore Liza Sizer hit for a career high 16 points to lead NSU in scoring while Shana Theobald added ten.

--Each team shot just over 43 percent from the floor on the night.

--NSU won the battle on the boards 36-32. The Wolves have outrebounded their opponents in eight of their 11 games this season.

--Sizer also pulled down a team high five rebounds and was 4-for-6 from three-point range.

--Ashley Arndorfer led four Wildcats in double-figures with 16 points.

--Dodie Martin pulled down a game high six rebounds for WSC.

--NSU drops to 2-9 on the season and 0-3 in the league. They will host Southwest State Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
