January 20, 2003

Jamestown, N.D . -- The Northern State women's basketball team narrowly escaped a determined Jamestown team on Monday night in non-conference action.

The Wolves held a small advantage through the majority of the game and held a 29-26 advantage at halftime. The Wolves took a 61-60 lead with just seconds left when Carin Rambow knocked down two free throws to extend the Wolves lead to three.

Jamestown had time for one last attempt at the tie as they tried a three at the buzzer that fell off the mark, but Northern State was called for a foul on the shot. JC hit the first two but failed on the third and Northern escaped with the 63-62 win.

Carin Rambow and Brooke Fandrich each threw in 14 points to lead the Wolves in scoring. Fandrich, along with Tia Michalski, led NSU with six rebounds.

The Jimmies were paced by a 13 point performance by Lindsey Ness.

Northern gets back into conference play on Saturday night when they host Minnesota-Morris.
