NORTHERN WOMEN CLAIM OVERTIME VICTORY OVER WARRIORS

Aberdeen, S.D. -- The Northern State women's basketball team made it four in a row on Friday night with a thrilling 91-87 vicotory over Winona State in front of over 2,100 fans in Wachs Arena.

Northern jumped out to a 20-9 lead 8:23 into the game before the Warriors got back in the contest with a nine-point run to make the score 20-18.

WSU would then take a lead at the 3:54 mark and hold a 36-32 advantage at the halftime break.

The Warriors would hold the lead in the second half until the 13:18 mark when Northern tied the score on a Carin Rambow three-pointer. The Wolves built a lead as large as six with 1:53 to play (73-67) but WSU would outscore Northern 10-4 in the final two minutes to send the game to overtime on a Jenny Johnson three with :03 to play in regulation.

In the extra period, Northern trailed by two early but made a 7-0 run to go up by five and held the Warriors off for the final :33 to win the game by a 91-87 count.

Jessi Mostad led Northern State with a career high 18 points. She also boasted a team-high four assists on the night.

Liza Sizer threw in 14 going 4-for-8 from the floor while Carin Rambow matched Sizer with 14 of her own including 11 from the free throw line.

Tia Michalski added 12 points and eight rebounds on the night while Gina Golberg hit double-figures with ten points. Amanda Mollman ripped down a game high nine rebounds for the Wolves on the night.

The Warriors were paced by a 20-point, seven rebound performance by Anne Straate while Katie Kosters threw in 15 for WSU.

Northern State (8-11, 5-5 NSIC) will host conference-leading Concordia-St. Paul tomorrow night in Wachs Arena for a 5:30 tipoff.
