COME ALIVE IN SECOND HALF TO DOWN EAGLES, 72-62

Aberdeen,
S.D. -- The Northern State women's basketball team got back
in the win column on Friday night as they outscored Minnesota,
Crookston 44-31 in the second half to earn a 72-62 victory.
The
Wolves held a 28-24 advantage with 1:54 to go in the first
before the Golden Eagles finished the half on a 7-0 run to
take a 31-28 lead into the break.
Northern
then surged ahead of UMC in the second half and took a four-point
lead before the Eagles tied the score at 53-53 with 7:37 remaining
in the game.
Northern
then took a 6-0 run to go up 59-53 and then extended the lead
to nine with 2:53 to go.
The
Wolves closed the door making five of their last five free
throws to seal the 72-62 win.
With
the victory, Northern snaps a three-game losing streak and
improves to 9-14 on the season and 6-8 in Northern Sun play.
Jessi
Mostad and Liza Sizer paced Northern State with 15 points
apiece while Tia Michalski and Carin Rambow each contributed
14.
Michalski
posted a career high ten rebounds on the night and recorded
her first double-double of the season.
Northern
shot .490 for the game from the floor including a second-half
percentage of .652 (15-for-23). The Wolves also held an advantage
in rebounding collecting 39 boards compared to UMC's 32.
Northern
hosts MSU Moorhead tomorrow night in the Barnett Center for
a 5:30 p.m. matchup.
