ABERDEEN,
S.D. - The No. 2-ranked North Dakota Fighting Sioux held off an
upset-minded Wolves team on Wednesday night in Wachs Arena handing
Northern State a 56-50 loss at home.
The
Wolves shot just 27 percent from the floor in the first half while
scoring only 18 points to go into the break down 26-18.
After
trailing by as many as 14 in the second period, the Wolves used
an 11-3 run to pull within four with :37 remaining in the game.
UND's Marisa Leighton missed four free throws but the Wolves were
unable to capitalize on the offensive end finishing the game down
56-50.
NSU
sophomore Sara Jensen led the Wolves in scoring for the second straight
game hitting for 14 points on the night on 5-of-11 from the floor.
Amanda
Mollman paced the NSU rebounding with eight on the night while adding
two assists for the game, as well.
NSU
was outrebounded for just the third time this season with the Sioux
holding a 45-39 advantage on the boards.
NSU
shot at a season-low 32.1 percent clip on the night. The Wolves
had not hit for less than a 40 percent average in any game this
season coming into the game.
NSU
(5-3) hosts No. 4 South Dakota on Saturday night in Wachs Arena.
