NSU FRESHMAN LEADS WOLVES TO COME-FROM-BEHIND WIN OVER DRAGONS

NSU freshman Carolin Becker paced NSU with 15 points and 12 rebounds against MSUM

Moorhead, Minn. - Northern State freshman Carolin Becker netted the first double-double of her career with 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead Northern State from a 13-point deficit to a 68-65 win over Minnesota State Moorhead on Saturday night.

The Wolves fell behind by 13 points at the 6:00 mark in the first period when Jackie Doerr made good on a three-point field goal to put the Dragons up 33-20.

The Wolves rallied, however and cut the MSUM lead to 41-34 at the halftime break thanks to an Amanda Mollman layup at the buzzer.

Minnesota State bumped its lead back up to double-figures one more time at 49-39 before the Wolves used a 14-2 run to earn their first lead of the ball game since the first half with a 53-51 lead with 7:11 to play.

The game went back and forth until Liza Sizer hit a jumper followed by two free throws from Mollman to put the Wolves up65-62 with 2:00 to play.

NSU senior Carin Rambow would go on to hit three of four free throws down the stretch to solidify the NSU win with a final of 68-65.

Along with Becker's 15 points and 12 rebounds, NSU junior Michelle Hanson garnered a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds on the night while Mollman chipped in eight points and nine boards on the evening.

The Wolves won the battle of the top rebounding teams in the NSIC ripping down 52 boards to MSUM's 33.

The Wolves shot 36.5 percent from the field hitting 5-of-13 from three-point range while the Dragons shot a school-record 30 times from behind the arch and hitting 11.

NSU will hit the road again on Tuesday when they face Bemidji State at 6 p.m.
