NSU WOMEN PICKED SIXTH IN PRESEASON COACHES POLL

ABERDEEN, SD: The Northern State women's basketball team was picked to finish in sixth place in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in the 2003-04 NSIC preseason coaches poll released on Thursday.

Minnesota-Duluth was selected by league coaches as the favorite in 2003-04 while UMD's Lindsey Dietz was tabbed as the NSIC preseason player of the year.

The Bulldogs received four first place votes and 60 points in the poll after earning its 10th regular season title in the last 14 years in 2002-03 with a 15-3 league record.

Concordia-St. Paul was second in the poll with 57 points and three first place votes while MSU Moorhead nabbed two first place tallys and 48 points to come in third.

Northern State's Carin Rambow was selected as an NSIC Player to Watch in 2003-04. The senior, guard from Litchfield, Minn. was a 2003 NSIC all-conference honorable mention selection and has been a three-year starter for the Wolves. Rambow led NSU in scoring averaging 9.7 points per game in 2002-03 including a team-high 41 three-point field goals.

Northern State finished the 2002-03 season with a 12-17 overall mark and a trip to the NSIC Tournament Semi-Finals. The Wolves will begin play on Nov. 21 when they take on the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.
