Northern State Women’s Basketball Adds Transfer Laura Wegehaupt of Aberdeen, SD
ABERDEEN, SD - Northern State University Head Women’s Basketball Coach Curt Fredrickson has announced the addition of former Aberdeen Central High School star Laura Wegehaupt to the Wolves women’s basketball program.
Wegehaupt will transfer from the University of South Dakota and have four years of basketball eligibility at Northern State.
As a senior at Aberdeen Central, Laura was named to the Second Team All-State and was an All-State Tournament player. She averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds per game her senior season of high school.
Wegehaupt will be the eight player added to the 2004-05 Wolves Women's Basketball program.

Women Sign Another Four to 04-05 Squad
ABERDEEN,
SD - Northern State University Women's Basketball has signed four
new recruits for the 2004-05 squad. Amanda Glenz (Paynesville,
MN), Clair Honer (Perham, MN), Kim Lewis
(Barnesville, MN) and Jessica Parker (Bemidji, MN)
are the newest student athletes to sign on as Wolves. They will
unite with Jaclyn Arns (St. Michael, MN), Ryanne Brockhaus (Prior
Lake, MN) and Noelle Hall (Lewiston, MN) who signed last November,
to form the magnificent seven that Head Coach Curt Fredrickson has
brought in for the Wolves in 2004-05.
Amanda
Glenz, a 6' forward, averaged 20 points and nine rebounds a game
while shooting 65% from the free throw line and 54% from the field.
During her high school career she amassed 1,070 points and had a
career game high of 35 points.
Clair
Honer, a 6'1 post player, was the MVP of the Heart of the Lakes
Conference her junior and senior seasons. She averaged 17 points
and nine rebounds a game while shooting 42% from the field and 68%
from the charity stripe. She can also shoot the outside shot as
she drained 17 three pointers her senior year.
Kim
Lewis, a 5'11 forward, was a three year all-conference player in
high school. She averaged 18 points and eight rebounds a game while
shooting 49% from the field and 67% from the free throw line. Her
senior year, Lewis dropped 46 shots in from behind the arc as she
led her team to a state tournament appearance.
Jessica
Parker, a 5'10 forward, was hampered her senior season with injuries.
Her athletic abilities still shines through as she will play both
basketball and softball when she attends Northern State.
“Our
goal coming into this recruiting season was to add some size and
depth to our center and forward positions. This is an outstanding
group of athletes that knows how to score and will be able to help
us immediately at the varsity level. We signed Noelle Hall a 6’1
center from Lewiston, MN and two outstanding point guards, Jaclyn
Arns (5’6, St. Michaels, MN) and Ryanne Brockhaus (5’5, Prior Lake,
MN) during the early signing period. We feel this could be one of
the best incoming freshman classes we have had at Northern State"
said Coach Fredrickson.
NSU’s
four additions bring the total number to seven of Curt Fredrickson’s
2003-04 recruiting class.

WOMEN SIGN THREE HIGH SCHOOL HOOPSTERS
ABERDEEN,
SD - Northern State head women’s basketball coach Curt Fredrickson
has announced that Jaclyn Arns (St. Michael, Minn.), Ryanne
Brockhaus (Prior Lake, Minn.) and Noelle Hall (Lewiston,
Minn.) have committed to play with the Northern State women’s basketball
team beginning in the 2004-05 season.
Arns,
a 5-6 point guard, posted 12.3 points, four rebounds, four steals
and three assists as a junior at St. Michael High School. Jaclyn
holds her school’s record for single season three-pointers (57)
and steals (96) while leading the squad in scoring, steals and assists
in her last two seasons. She is a two-time all-conference honoree
in basketball and volleyball and has been an academic all-conference
honoree three times.
Brockhaus,
a 5-5 point guard, averaged 12 points, five assists, four steals
and three rebounds per game for Prior Lake High School in her junior
year. She is an all-conference performer and a team captain and
was named as a top 100 player in the state of Minnesota. Ryanne
helped to guide the Lakers to the Missota Conference championship
in 2003 and set her school record for assists. Her team earned a
third place finish in Section 3A state tournament in her sophomore
season and finished fourth last year.
Hall,
a 6-1 forward/center, netted 15 points and seven rebounds per contest
as a junior for Lewiston-Altura High School. She is a three-time
all-conference performer and was named to the Minnesota All-State
team last season. Noelle competed on a summer AAU team that finished
second in the nation. Hall helped to guide LAHS to the sub-section
1AA championship in her last two years.
“We
have added three outstanding young ladies to our Wolves Basketball
program,” commented Coach Fredrickson. “All three athletes play
in very successful programs. Jaclyn and Ryanne are two of the top
point guards in Minnesota and Noelle gives us a presence at the
post position that can score and rebound.”
NSU’s
three additions mark the first of Curt Fredrickson’s 2003-04 recruiting
class.
