Aberdeen, SD – SW Minnesota State put an end the Northern State’s three game winning streak as they down the Wolves 60-51 on night two of NSIC action. Both teams looked sloppy in the match-up as they combined for 30 total turnovers in the game. NSU was also out-rebounded for only the third time this season as the Mustangs held a 39-33 advantage.
The Wolves were within three of the Mustangs with just over two minutes to go in the first half when the Stangs went on a 9-0 run to finish the half leading 29-17.
The Wolves shot only 29.2% (7-24) in the first half and missed all five of the three points that they took. The Mustangs looked equally bad as they hit 12 of 33 (26.4%) shots and a miserable 2 of 10 three pointers.
The Wolves were able to claw there way to within six with three minutes to go, but that was as close as they would come.
In the second half both teams look better as each team hit 10 of 25 (40%) shots from the field. The Mustangs hit all three of the three pointers, while the Wolves went 3 of 7 from downtown.
For the game the Wolves hit 17 of 49 (34.7%) shots and were 3 of 12 (25%) from long range. The Mustangs hit 22 of 58 (37.9%) from the field and 5 of 13 (38.5%) from long range.
The Wolves were led Carolin Becker’s 14 points on 6 of 9 shooting. Liza Sizer had 10 points on 3 of 5 shooting, while Miranda Boepple had four points and tied for a team high six rebounds. Ali Chmielewski had nine points and six rebounds of her own.
