Golden Eagles Stay Hot - Down Wolves

Crookston, Minn. – Minnesota, Crookston continued their hot streak at home as they down the Wolves 65-54 at Lysaker Gym. The Wolves shot poorly from the outside and turned the ball over 14 times in the loss.

The Wolves trailed by 12 at the break, but opened up the second half on a 13-0 run to lead 39-38 early, but the Golden Eagles were able to battle back and hold as they improve to 11-4 overall and 3-0 in the NSIC. The Wolves fall to 9-6 overall and 1-2 in NSIC play.

The Wolves trailed at the half 38-26 after the Golden Eagles hit 13 of 26 shots from the field. The Wolves hit 38% (11-29) of their shots, but were only 2 of 11 (18.2%) from three-point range. The Golden Eagles on the other hand hit 6 of 12 shots from downtown, but struggled from the free throw line, hitting only 6 of 12 from the charity stripe. The Wolves hit their only two free throws of the half.

The Golden Eagles struggled from three-point range in the second half as they hit only 2 of 13 (15.4%) of their shots from downtown. The Wolves also struggled as they hit only 2 of 10 three pointers in the second half, ending the game only 4 of 21 (19%) from three point range.

The Wolves continued to dominate the boards as they out rebounded the Golden Eagles 50 to 35, but the Golden Eagles attempted double the number of free throws as the Wolves. The Golden Eagles hit 13 of 25 from the line, while the Wolves went 8 of 12.

Leading scorer for the Wolves was Ali Chmielewski (Jr., G, Foley, Minn.) who scored 15 points, but was 0 for 6 from three point range. Carolin Becker led all rebounders with 11 in the game.

The Wolves take on Bemidji State tomorrow night in Bemidji, Minn.
