Wolves Hand #15 CSP Second Loss of Weekend

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State handed #15 Concordia St. Paul their second loss of the weekend as they put away the Golden Bears 79-72 at Barnett Center. The Wolves improve 12-6 overall and 4-2 in the NSIC. The Golden Bears fall to 11-6 and 3-3 in the NSIC with their loss to the Wolves and MSU Moorhead last night. The Wolves were led by Miranda Boepple, who picked up here third double-double of the season.

Northern State used 25 points off free throws in the second half to gain the edge over the Golden Bears. For the game the Wolves hit 25 of 30 (80%) from the line, while the Golden Bears were only 10 of 17 (58.8%).

Concordia St. Paul scored the opening basket of the game to lead 2-0, but the Wolves would go on a 9-0 run to take a lead they would never lose. The Wolves largest lead was 15 early in the first half, and the closest the Golden Bears would come was three early in the second half.

The Wolves were lead by Miranda Boepple (So., F, Dickinson, N.D.) who grabbed a career high 11 rebounds and dropped in 18 points. She also dished out six assists and nabbed three steals in 35 minutes of play. Noelle Hall (Fr., C, Altura, Minn.) added 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Ali Chmielewski (Jr., F, Foley, Minn.) added 11 and Carolin Becker (So., F, Beulah, S.D.) had 10 in the game.

The Wolves travel to Moorhead on Jan. 29 th to take on MSU Moorhead. The Dragons are currently in first place in the NSIC with a perfect 6-0 record. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.

 

Miranda BoeppleMiranda Boepple Named NSIC Player of the Week

Miranda Boepple (So., F, Dickinson, N.D.) scored 25 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, dished out 9 assists and nabbed three steals over the weekend as the Wolves defeated Winona State and #15 Concordia St. Paul. Boepple stepped up her game Sunday night against CSP when she scored 18 points, grabbed a career high 11 rebounds (six offensive) and dished out six assists as she collected her third double-double of the season.

Boepple's tends to pick up her game against top 25 opponents. Against then #7 North Dakota, Boepple scored 15 points and rounded up nine rebounds as she played the entire 40 minutes of the game. Against #15 Concordia St. Paul, Boepple dropped 18 points and grabbed a career high 11 rebounds, earning her third double-double of the season.

For the season, Boepple is averaging 10.3 ppg and is leading the team in rebounding (6.6 rpg) and in steals (25). She also ranks second on the team in assists, with 52. In NSIC games only, Boepple leads the league in offensive rebounds as she is averaging 3.33 offensive rebounds per game.
