WAYNE, Neb. - Miranda Boepple had an open three pointer with seconds to go to take the lead, but the shot was off as Wayne State went on to hit a pair of free throws and go on to the 75-71 win over Northern State. Wayne extends their home win streak over the Wolves to four.
The Wolves will finished tied for fourth place in the NSIC with Minnesota, Crookston, but the Wolves hold the tiebreaker and will host Minnesota, Crookston on Wed., Mar. 2 nd at 6:00 p.m. in Aberdeen, S.D.
Boepple (So, F, Dickinson, N.D.) led the Wolves with 17 points on 7-11 shooting. Noelle Hall (Fr., C, Altura, Minn.) added 15 points and six rebounds. Ali Chmielewski (Jr., G, Foley, Minn.) had 14 and Carolin Becker (So., F, Beulah, N.D.) put in 13.
The Wolves shot 51% (25-49) for the field while the Wildcats were 47% (26-55). The Wolves were 7 of 10 from three point range while the Wildcats were 9 of 21. The Wolves out rebounded the Wildcats 32-30, but turned the ball over 16 times compared to 10 Wayne State.
The Wolves finish the regular season at 16-11 overall and 8-6 in the NSIC, good enough for fourth place. Wayne State is 19-10 overall and 7- 7 in the NSIC, a sixth place finish.
