Wolves Burned by Dragons in NSIC Semifinals

Moorhead, Minn. - Northern State led MSU Moorhead 42-41 with eleven minutes remaining before the Dragons outscored the Wolves 20-5 over the next six minutes to go on to win 67-55 in the semifinals of the NSIC Red Baron Women’s Basketball Classic. The Dragons advance to the championship game tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 p.m. against Concordia St. Paul. The Wolves are now 0-5 in semifinals of the NSIC Tournament as they finish the season with a 17-12 record.

The Wolves trailed 30-27 at the half and battled back to the lead before going cold at the eleven-minute mark.

Miranda Boepple (So., F, Dickinson, N.D.) led the Wolves with 18 point on 8 of 12 shooting while NSIC Newcomer of the Year NoelleHall (Fr., C, Altura, Minn.) added ten points and seven rebounds.


Dana Weibel and Lindsey Hartmann who both scored 14 points led the Dragons. The Dragons also out rebounded the Wolves 41 to 30 as the Wolves are finish the season 2-7 when losing the battle on the boards.

The Wolves shot 34% (22-64) from the field and were 3 of 10 from three point range. The Dragons did turn the ball over 22 times compared to 14 for the Wolves.

Michelle Hansen (Sr., C, Fargo, N.D.), LizaSizer (Sr., G, Miller, S.D.) and AmberPowell (Sr., F, Parkston, S.D.) finished their playing careers at Northern State in today’s game.
