Wolves Rip Iowa Wesleyan
Omaha, Neb. – Northern State (6-0, 0-0 NSIC) cruised to another easy win on day two of the UNO Classic as they ripped past Iowa Wesleyan (4-4) 82-39. The Wolves 6-0 start is their best start since the 1994-95 season when they won 13 straight to start the season. Northern State head coach Curt Fredrickson won his 593 rd game in his 27 year career.
The Wolves jumped out to an 8-1 lead and kept pouring it on as they led 35-12 at the half. The Wolves held the Tigers to just 3 of 31 (9.7%) shooting in the first half, with all the missed shot however, the Tigers out rebound the Wolves in the first half 23-22 and 11-4 on the offensive end, but the Tigers only turned it into four second chance points.
The second half the Wolves out rebounded the Tigers 32-17 to finish with a 54 to 40 edge and a 20-18 edge on the offensive end.
For the game the Tigers shot 17.5% (10-57) while the Wolves were 31 of 65 for 47.7%. Both teams were dreadful from three point range as each team was 1 for 12 (8.3%) in the game. The Wolves also owned the lane as the Wolves outscored the Tigers 42-12 in points in the paint.
Noelle Hall (So., C, Altura, Minn.) led the Wolves with 15 points and eight rebounds.
Lindsey Utter (Jr., C, Mobridge, S.D.) had the best game of her career as she record highs of 12 points and eight rebounds in the contest. Utter was 4 of 4 from the field and the free throw line in her 21 minutes of play. Sara Jensen (Sr., G, South Shore, S.D.) was the other Wolf in double figures with 10 points in her 11 minutes of play.
Northern State returns home to take on the #8 team in the nation when the University of North Dakota comes to Aberdeen, S.D.
