Wolves Keep Golden Eagles Winless

ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State women's basketball team (12-4, 5-2 NSIC) ended a two-game losing streak as they took on UM-Crookston (0-14, 0-6 NSIC) at Wachs Arena Friday night. The Wolves led the entire game and finished with a 37-point lead, downing the Golden Eagles 85-48.

The Wolves used the opportunity to give their young bench meaningful minutes. All NSU players suited for the game played at least four minutes and combined for 43 of NSU's 85 points. The 37 point win was the second largest win for Northern State this season and was their highest scoring game of the year.

Northern led 44-29 at the half after shooting 45.9% from the field. They soon extended their lead in the opening minutes of the second half, going up by 20 points with a jumper by Noelle Hall. The Wolves pushed the margin to 31 points, 66-35, by the 12 minute mark of the second half. They led by a season high 38 points twice in the game before setting the ultimate decision at 85-48.

The Wolves shot 43.5 percent from the field (30-69) while UMC shot 32.7 percent (17-52). Northern had a 47-31 lead on the boards and forced the Golden Eagles into 21 turnovers.

Northern was led on the night by Noelle Hall with 15 points and six rebounds. Carolin Becker added 11 points, while Miranda Boepple had a team high seven rebounds and dished out four assists. Jaclyn Arns dished out a season high five assists.

The Golden Eagles were led by Kelsey VanAckeren wtih 18 points and four rebounds. Doriane Davis had 12 points.

The Wolves (12-4, 5-2) will continue play at Wachs Arena tomorrow night, hosting Bemidji State (7-6, 4-2 NSIC)at 6:00 pm.
