Wolves Receive Votes In Preseason Poll

ABERDEEN, SD - The Northern State women's basketball team received votes in the recently released USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches' Poll. The Wolves, picked to finish first in the NSIC, did not make it into the top 25, but received 19 votes in the first poll of the season.

Although no NSIC teams made the treasured Top 25, several received votes. Wayne State topped all league institutions with 69 points, followed by Northern State with 19, MSU Moorhead with 7, and Concordia-St. Paul with 6. The North Central Region was well-represented in the poll, with North Dakota (NCC) receiving a #2 position with seven first place votes and 613 total points. St. Cloud State (NCC) fell in at #4 with 558 points and Regis University (RMAC) made #23 with 104 points. Several other Region teams received votes but no ranking.

The USA Today ESPN Top 25 Poll is compiled based on votes from the Board of Coaches, made up of 28 head coaches at Division II institutions. All are members of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). The poll is released each Tuesday afternoon.
