Wolves Lose First Dual of the Season 6-39
Mankato, Minn.- Northern State (0-1) lost to #2 Minnesota State, Mankato in the first dual of the season 6-39. The Wolves have yet to beat the Mavericks in their eight attempts.
The Wolves got off to a good start as Jesse Wood ( Jr., Milbank, SD) defeated Travis Puig 8-6 on a late takedown in the 149 pound weight class. After the strong start the Wolves would struggle to get any momentum going against the Mavericks. The only other match the Wolves won was when Todd Naasz (So., Mobridge, SD) defeated Ben Janike 6-4 in a thrilling overtime match in the 197 pound weight class.
Jason Hill (Sr., Milbank, SD) had a tough match against #1 Travis Krinkie as he lost 12-7 at 174 pounds.
The Wolves will be in action next Wednesday, as they will host Dakota Wesleyan in their second dual of the season at 7:00 pm in Aberdeen, SD.
