Grapplers Saddle Mustangs 27-16 In NSIC Bout

ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Wolves pulled off their first NSIC dual win of the year, toppling Southwest Minnesota State (3-10, 1-1 NSIC). They won four of the first five matches of the night before ultimately taking a 27-16 win.
The highlights of the dual included three pins by Northern grapplers. The Wolves jumped out to a 15-4 lead in the match after Cale Cornemann (6-3) and Todd Naasz (13-7) strung together back-to-back pins. Naasz wasted no time in his victory, getting the count after just 47 seconds of wrestling time. Phillip Downs secured the win for the Wolves in the final match of the night, getting a pin against Chris Fast at the 3:48 mark. Also posting wins for NSU was Brunau Augustin (3-2 dec.), Jared Little (6-0 dec.), and Dave Schiley (10-6 dec.)
The Northern State grapplers will continue action at Wachs Arena on February 15 with a dual against the University of Mary. The final home bout of the season will begin at 7:00 pm.
