Northern State Wrestling Inks One More for 2006
Metz also competed in baseball and football in high school. He was the MVP of his football team in 2004 and 2005, All Conference in 2003 and 2005 and All District in 2006. He was the Citrus/Hernaudo Player of the Year in 2005.
While in high school Metz was a High School Hiesman Nominee and a member of the National Honor Society. He was also a High Honor Roll student at Springstead High School.
Metz will be majoring in Forensic Science at Northern State University.
“We are excited to add a talented wrestler like Seth. He is very explosive on his feet and fits very well into our style of wrestling. Seth will add much needed depth in our upper weights. I am looking forward to working with him and the rest of the recruiting class next season”, commented Timm.
Jared Little of Raymond, Wash. wrestled in the HWT division at Raymond High School. Little was a Regional and State Champion while in High School. He also participated in Baseball, Football and Track.
Little is an Academic State Champion and will be majoring in Business Management at NSU. He will be wrestling in the HWT division for the Wolves.
“For a heavyweight, Jared moves his feet rather well. He will be battling for a varsity spot and giving us multiple heavyweights which we have not had in the past,” said Coach Timm.

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Northern State head wrestling coach Patrick Timm has announced the signing of five studentathletes to the 2006-07 team. Dustin Bonn (Aberdeen, S.D.), Corbin Surat (Aberdeen, S.D.), David Schiley (Webster, S.D.), Jade Cowan (Pierre, S.D.), and Brandon Hudiburgh (Grand Island, Neb.) are the newest members of the Northern State Wrestling team.
David Schiley a native of Webster, S.D. has an array of achievements at the high school level. He was named the SDHAA wrestler of the year, is a two-time state champ, a two-time runner up, a Junior Olympic Champion, and a Brute-Adidas national champ. Schiley accumulated a 185-8 record during his wrestling career. He also participated in football and track while in high school.
Schiley plans to major in Criminal Justice at NSU, where he will wrestle at 141-pounds for the Wolves.
“We think Dave can step into the 141-pound spot as a freshman and make an immediate impact. He knows how to win and what it takes to be successful,” commented Coach Timm.
Corbin Surat from Aberdeen, S.D. attended Aberdeen Central High School. Corbin won a state championship his junior year and finished as a runner-up his senior year. He will wrestle at 125-pounds at Northern State as he will bring depth to the lower classes. Surat, also a cross country athlete at Central High School, will be majoring in Pre-Med at Northern State.
“Corbin has had a lot of success on the mat during his high school career. I am looking forward to seeing him develop into a solid Division II wrestler. He will be able to step in and be a valuable asset at the lower weights,” said Coach Timm.
Dustin Bonn wrestled at the 145-pound weight class while attending Aberdeen Central High School. Bonn was a four-time state qualifier and finished in fourth place at 145-pounds in 2006, and was a two time All-Conference Performer. Bonn also participated in soccer during high school. Bonn was also Academic All-State while in high school.
Bonn will wrestle either at 149-pounds or 157-pounds for the Wolves, while he majors in Business at NSU.
“I am excited to sign two local talents; Dustin is a great Student-Athlete and will give us some much needed depth at the 149 & 157-pound weight class.”
Jade Cowan attended T.F. Riggs High School in Pierre, S.D. Cowan was a two time state place winner, finishing second at 215 as a junior and third at 189 as a senior. Cowan was also an excellent football player as he was an All State Linebacker for T.F. Riggs High School.
Cowan will be wrestling at the 184 or 197-pound weight class for the Wolves. He is planning on majoring in Secondary Education with a minor in Physical Education at Northern State.
“Jade is a great person and athlete. He will help secure some holes we have had in the past in the 184/197-pound weight classes. I am looking forward to getting the chance to work with him,” commented Coach Timm.
Brandon Hudiburgh, from Grand Island, Neb. went to Grand Island High School. Hudiburgh is a three time state place winner finishing third at 160-pounds, second at 171-pounds, and first at 189-pounds as a senior. Hudiburgh won three conferecne championships and holds the school record for most career pins, points, and wins. He was also an All District and All-Conference football player.
He will wrestle in the 184-pound weight class for the Wolves.
“Brandon had a stellar high school career and capped it off by winning a state title. We see him stepping in and contributing right away,” commented Coach Timm.
“Overall, I feel that we have brought in a talented freshman class who will help make our team more competitive, we accomplished our goal of adding depth at each weight class,” commented Coach Timm.
