Amber Rae Bryant takes over as Head Athletic Trainer at Northern State University after five years as an Assistant. Amber Rae graduated from South Dakota State University in May 2001 with a degree in Athletic Training and received her Master of Science degree in Education from Northern State University in August 2002. She is employed through Avera St. Luke’s. Amber Rae and her husband, Toby, have two daughters, Tevan and Dessa and reside in Aberdeen.

Sean Duffy, ATC, moved to Aberdeen from Sioux Falls in October, 2006 after accepting a position with Avera St. Luke's. Sean is a recent graduate of South Dakota State University where he received his B.S. while majoring in Athletic Training, working predominantly with the SDSU men's basketball team. Sean and his wife, Cassie, have a son Declan and are expecting their second child in August.

Kyle Everson is a Certified Athletic Trainer for Avera St. Luke's, assigned to cover Northern State University athletics.  His primary duties include football and wrestling. Kyle attended SDSU where he earned his B.S. in Athletic Training.  He and his wife, Shawna, have two daughters, Alexia and Addison.

Lindsey Swenson graduated from South Dakota State University in May 2006 with a degree in Athletic Training. She is currently working toward her Master of Science degree in Education from Northern State University. She is the primary athletic trainer for women's soccer and women's basketball. Lindsey and her husband, Mike, live in Aberdeen.

INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS
*************************************************************
Northern State University requires all student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics to pay any medical costs associated with an athletic injury.  Requiring the student-athlete to provide evidence of insurance coverage prior to participation enforces this requirement.  You must have proof of insurance on file in the athletic training room before you will be allowed to participate in athletic practice or competition.

THE FOLLOWING TYPES OF INSURANCE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED:

• Insurance that covers only emergency and/or life stabilizing situations.
• Insurance that is in affect for less than the school year:
• Insurance must be in effect from the first day of practice or first day of school through the last day of tests in May.
• Cancellation of insurance prior to the end of the school year will result in immediate dismissal from athletics.        
• HMO Insurance that is effective only in your home state; which enforces care through HMO physicians and/or HMO medical facilities.
• If you have an HMO, you must enroll in an out of state rider that will cover you for routine medical care while you are attending Northern State University.

IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THE ABOVE TYPES OF INSURANCE, YOU MUST OBTAIN A POLICY THAT WILL FULLY COVER YOU FOR ROUTINE AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE IN THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA.

• Insurance policies must be in place prior to workouts, conditioning, and competition.  All insurance policies must cover the student athlete for the entire school year and will be verified by the Athletic Training Department and will be monitored throughout the year.  If you have questions or doubts regarding your coverage, please check your policy before arriving on campus.

NSU HAS A NCAA CATASTROPHIC POLICY IN EFFECT THAT COVERS ALL EXPENSES ABOVE $75,000.
