JAMISON JUMP-STARTS WOLVES TO FOURTH QUARTER COMEBACK

Nov. 4, 2000

Junior Cody Jamison (Murray, Utah), who ranks ninth nationally in kickoff returns and has spent most of the season ranked nationally in punt returns, showed a few more weapons in his gridiron arsenal in NSU's 21-14 win at Minnesota State-Moorhead Saturday.

The 5-foot-7, 170 pound scatback who also lines up as a receiver on occassion scored both a rushing and receiving touchdown in the fourth quarter to bring the Wolves back and win the game. Jamison ended the day with 115 yards rushing on 21 carries and 186 total yards. He ended up in every possible individual statistical yardage category of rushing, receiving, kickoff and punt return.

But even with the heroics of Mr. Everything, Northern needed a big defensive effort to come out on top in the game, and true to the form of the past few weeks, the defense shut down MSU-M's offense, holding the Dragons to just 49 yards passing and 219 yards of total offense.

Senior linebacker Jesse Gingras (Sturgis) and senior defensive end Colin Steen (Brookings) led the way on a balanced defensive effort, tallying seven tackles apiece.

Without the services of Harlon Hill candidate Tyrone Morgan (San Fernando, Calif.), Northern State (6-4 overall)  proved it is a team still on the rise with the win Saturday and hopes to peak in the season finale next weekend at the Metrodome Classic against Wisconsin-LaCrosse.
