Giving
Back to Aberdeen
ABERDEEN,
SD - The Northern State University football program took a
day off from its normal practice schedule on Friday to give
back to Aberdeen and surrounding communities volunteering
their time and effort in and around the Hub City.
"I
think this is a great opportunity for our football team to
give back to the community," said senior linebacker Sam
Stevens (Tallahassee, Fla.). "It's not often that we
get this opportunity to give back like this during the season."
The
Wolves' linebacking corps helped at Wylie Park in Aberdeen
by taking down fences and helping to restructure the minature
golf course and the railroad. They were just one group of
players helping out today. A total of more than 110 players
and coaches were on hand to volunteer on a hot, sticky day.
This
marks the second straight year that the NSU football program
has taken a day off to serve Aberdeen. The Wolves are working
in conjunction with the United Way to help the community that
the team calls its home.
Stevens
summed up his experience by simply saying, "It feels
good." I'm sure he shares this feeling with the rest
of his teammates.
