Warriors Start Hot - Win 60-28
WINONA, Minn. - Winona State scored on their first four possessions, including two off Wolves turnovers as they went on to romp the Wolves 60-28. The Wolves passed for 313 yards, but were out rushed 335 to 49 in the game.
This game had all the makings of a shoot-out, but the Wolves threw two interceptions on there second and third possession and found themselves down 28-0 midway threw the second quarter.
Ruby Jones scored two of the Wolves four touchdowns as he rushed for 54 yards on 11 carries.
Toby Korrodi passed for 313 yards, completing 23 of his 45 passes. He threw touchdowns to Travis Heitmann and Shadee Shakir; however, he was intercepted and sacked twice in the game.
Waleed Gaines had five kickoff returns for 118 yards, including busting one for 49.
Winona’s showed why they are fifth in the nation in scoring and eighth ranked team in total offense as they exploded for 639 yards of total offense, which was the 15th highest total in the nation this season.
Steve Espinoza continues to be all over the field on defense for the Wolves. The NSIC's leading tackler racked up another 18 tackles, three solo, from his linebacker position. Following the game he moved up to 14th in the nation in total tackles.
