Grace Shuts Out Competition, Earns NSIC Honors

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Northern State junior goalkeeper Catherine Grace has been named NSIC Defensive Player of the Week, as announced today by the NSIC office. Grace did not allow a goal in over 160 minutes played last week and helped the Wolves earn two wins to maintain a lead in the league standings. Northern is 12-3-2 overall and 5-0-1 in NSIC play. They were ranked #6 in the first Central Region poll of the year.

Grace (GK, 5-8, Jr., Littleton, Colo.) made 11 saves and did not allow a goal in two Northern State wins last weekend. She completed a double overtime shutout of MSU Moorhead in just over 103 minutes of play as the Wolves posted a 1-0 win on Saturday afternoon. She had a shared shutout against Concordia-St. Paul on Sunday, playing 56 minutes with two saves before leaving the game due to a bloody nose. Grace is 9-3-2 on the season with a goal against average of 0.75. She has three shutouts so far this year.

The Wolves resume play this weekend, hosting UM, Crookston on Saturday and Bemidji State on Sunday at Jerde Field. Both games are slated for a 1:00 pm start.

Northern State University (located in Aberdeen, SD) is an NCAA Division II institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
