Women's T&F Team Named All-Academic

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has announced the 2007 USTFCCCA Division II Women's All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor teams. With a GPA of 3.124, the Northern State women's track & field team, under the direction of Brenda Fuller, has been named on the All-Academic list. The women's team has been named All-Academic every year since they joined the NCAA in 1995-06, which is 12 consecutive seasons. There were 44 Division II women's programs recognized this year. Boepple Receives NCAA Award

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Former Northern State women's basketball and outdoor track & field athlete, Miranda Boepple, has been chosen to receive an NCAA Division II Degree Completion Award. The financial award is given to selected student-athletes who have exhausted their athletic eligibility and are working toward the completion of their degree. Approximately 100 student-athletes received the award in the spring of 2007. Full Release

USTFCCCA Announces Awards

METAIRIE, La. - The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has announced the 2007 USTFCCCA DII All-Academic Track and Field Teams. Highlighting the selection from Northern State University is senior Miranda Boepple (Dickinson, N.D.). The USTFCCCA honors Division II individuals for their academic and athletic achievements during the indoor and outdoor track seasons. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, one must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 and obtain an NCAA qualifying mark in their respective event. Full Release

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Northern State outdoor track & field finished another impressive season, capped off by Jake Hamik’s third NCAA All-American Award (Northern State’s 39th). VanVeen, Gamble Honored With Swisher/Wolffe Awards

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Northern State University athletic director Bob Olson has announced that Jeremy VanVeen and Melissa Gamble are the recipients of the 2007 Clark Swisher and Hildred Wolffe Awards. Each year, one male and one female athlete from NSU is recognized as the most outstanding based on athletic ability, scholarship, and leadership. Full Release

All-American Hamik Places Fourth

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - CHARLOTTE, N.C. - All-American Jake Hamik (Jr., Aberdeen, S.D.) placed fourth at the NCAA National Track & Field Championships Saturday evening. He posted a time of 50.92 seconds in the finals of the 400 Meter Hurdles, a personal best time and the highest finish by the junior at a NCAA Nationals Meet. Full Story

2007 Indoor Season Wrap-Up

ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Northern State University track & field squad finished their indoor season and again had some impressive results. Six athletes were named to the All-NSIC Team, two school records were broken, four athletes were named NSIC Athletes of the Week, two athletes met NCAA National Qualifying marks, both the men’s and women’s teams ended the season ranked nationally in the top 30, and Jake Hamik was named the NSIC Male Track Athlete of the Year and earned NCAA Division II All-American Status at the National meet. BOSTON, Mass.- Northern State junior Jake Hamik (Aberdeen, SD) posted a time of 8.18 seconds in the finals of the Men's 60 Meter Hurdles at the NCAA DII Indoor Track and Field National meet on Saturday evening.
