Northern Women Tabbed Third In
Preseason Poll

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Northern State's women's basketball team was picked to finish in a tie with Bemidji State for third in the NSIC in the 2007-08 NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Concordia-St. Paul was tabbed unanimously as the preseason favorite. The Wolves went 20-9 overall last season and finished third in the NSIC with a 12-6 record. Full Story
Becker Named Academic All-District

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Northern State seniors Carolin Becker, Melissa Gamble, and Theresa Alexander have been named to the 2006-07 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Teams, as selected and announced by CoSIDA, the College Sports Information Directors of America. Full Release
Boepple Receives NCAA Award

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Former Northern State women's basketball and outdoor track & field athlete, Miranda Boepple, has been chosen to receive an NCAA Division II Degree Completion Award. The financial award is given to selected student-athletes who have exhausted their athletic eligibility and are working toward the completion of their degree. Approximately 100 student-athletes received the award in the spring of 2007. Full Release
Pollari Hired As Assistant Coach

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Northern State University head women's baskeball coach Curt Fredrickson has announced the hiring of Brent Pollari as the assistant women's basketball coach for 2007-08. Pollari is a former women's basketball graduate assistant at NSU who received a Master's Degree in Physical Education, Health, and Coaching in 2006. Full Story
NSU Basketball Draws High Crowds

ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Northern State men's and women's basketball teams continued to draw some of the largest crowds in the NCAA Division II in 2006-07. Released by the NCAA, the NSU women's basketball team ranked third in the nation for average attendance, bringing in 2,402 fans to each home contest. The men's side ranked fourth in the nation with an average 3,160 fans per game. Full Story

Bain Resigns Post At NSU

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Wolves assistant women's basketball coach and head women's golf coach Amanda Bain will be resigning her post at Northern State University effective May 31, 2007. Bain intends to pursue professional avenues outside of athletics while allowing more time with her family. Full Story

LeBrun And Becker Nominated For Britton/Kelly Awards

ABERDEEN, SD - Josh LeBrun (Dell Rapids, S.D.) and Carolin Becker (Beulah, N.D.) have been nominated for the Britton/Kelly Awards by Northern State University. The Britton/Kelly awards are given to individuals who have shown strong academic excellence at their institution, are participants in the life of the institution, and who have displayed evidence of athletic participation and performance at the varsity level. Each NSIC institution nominates one male and one female student-athlete for the awards and, from the nominations, one deserving individual is chosen for each award every spring. Full Release

2006-07 Season Wrap-up

The Northern State women’s basketball team finished the 2006-07 season with it’s second consecutive 20+ win season, going 20-9 overall. The Wolves were picked to finish first in the NSIC in the 2006 NSIC Coaches Poll and the race for the regular season title came down to the last few games, with Concordia-St. Paul, MSU Moorhead, and Northern State all wrestling for the top spot. In the end, the Wolves finished third in the league with a 12-6 mark, while Concordia-St. Paul bested MSU Moorhead (13-5) with a 15-3 record. The Wolves were ranked in the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 Coaches’ Poll for more than half of the season, reaching as high as a #12 ranking on January 2, 2007. Reaching milestones in 2006-07 were senior Carolin Becker and junior Noelle Hall, who reached the 1,000 point mark of their careers on back-to-back nights in December. Full Wrap-Up
