In his eighth year as the Head Coach of the Northern State University Wolves, Patrick Timm has again continued to improve on the Wolves achievements. He has had four athletes named All-American, with the first in 2002-03. He led the Wolves to four straight top two finish in the NSIC, winning the Conference title in 2002 and placing second in 2001, 2003, and 2004. Head coach Patrick Timm has continued to bring the Wolves back to their Championship form and national prominence with a 15th finish at the 2004 NCAA Division II tournament.

During his time at NSU Timm has been named NSIC Wrestling Coach of the Year in 2002 and the Wolves have posted an impressive 14-7 record against NSIC Conference opponents. While at Northern he has coached four All-Americans, 13 NSIC Conference Champions, 18 National Qualifiers, 21 All-Conference performers, and 11 Academic All-Americans.

Timm was a two time All-American for South Dakota State University on his way to compiling a career record of 83-42 from 1993-1998. He placed third at 184 pounds in the 1998 NCAA Division II National Championships his senior year and seventh his junior season. Timm then went on to coach 11 Athletic All-Americans and 11 Academic All-Americans as the Assistant Coach for SDSU from 1998-2000. Coach Timm graduated from South Dakota State with a bachelor’s degree in History Education and went on to earn a masters degree in Athletic Administration in August 2000. He is married to Jennifer Timm.

Jared Digmann

Graduate Assistant Coach

1st Season

Jared Digmann is in his first year as a graduate assistant with the Wolves wrestling team. Digmann is from Alliance, Neb., where he graduated from Alliance High School in 2000. From there, he attended Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D.

While wrestling for Dakota Wesleyan, Digmann qualified for Nationals twice and placed 8th in 2004, becoming an All-American. He was also a conference champion in 2005.

Digmann graduated from Dakota Wesleyan in May of 2005 with degrees in Physical Education and Biology and a coaching minor. He has spent the past two years coaching high school wrestling teams in Lead-Deadwood, S.D. and Barrow, Alaska. He is pursuing a Master's Degree in Health, Physical Education, and coaching at Northern State. Jared is married to Ashley Digmann.

 

Rocky Burkett

Student Assistant Coach

3rd Season

Rocky Burkett is in his third season as an assistant with the Wolves. Burkett is originally from Rochester, IN. Rocky graduated from Rochester high school in 2000 then he went on to attend Manchester College in North Manchester, IN.

While wrestling for Manchester College Burkett was a 4-year letter winner, NCAA National Qualifier in 2003, Conference Champion in 2002 and 2003, and an Academic All-American in 2003 and 2004.

Burkett graduated from Manchester in December 2004 with a B.S. in Elementary Education.Burkett will be perusing a Masters Degree in Health, Physical Education, and coaching here at Northern State.

Cory Anderson

Cory Anderson

Graduate Assistant Coach

6th Season

Cory Anderson is in his sixth season as student assistant coach. Anderson has moved from the mat to the coaching ranks at Northern, after a successful wrestling career for the Wolves ...During his career at Northern, Cory was a national qualifier in 2001 and was an All-Conference performer and team captain for the wolves.

Anderson graduated in May of 2004 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Northern State and will be pursuing his masters in Counseling.

Matt Englund

Student Assistant

1st Season

Matt Englund was a four year letter winner for the Wolves. He will be graduating the spring of 2007 with a degree in Business Management.

Cory Wellnitz

Volunteer Assistant

2nd Year

Wellnitz was an All-American for Northern State in 2005 at the 197lb weight class. He was also a three time acedimic All-American and was two time National Qualifier. He graduated from Northern State in 2005 and now lives and works in Aberdeen, S.D.

Derik Budig

Strength and Conditioning Coach Derrick Budig

Northern State strength & conditioning coach Derik Budig has propelled Wolves' athletics to new heights thanks to his comprehensive strength program that has been implemented into the NSU athletic system.

Before coming to Aberdeen a year ago, the Yankton, S.D., native has spent the last year at the University of Texas, at El Paso (UTEP) as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach. In the past year, he has also served as a strength and conditioning consultant for Olympic track and field athletes in El Paso. Prior to his time at UTEP, Budig was an intern for the National Football League's Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the area of strength and conditioning.

Budig has also had success on the football field where he was a four-year starter and two-year team captain for Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Budig is in charge of developing and coordinating programs which assists student/athletes in developing overall physical strength and conditioning at NSU. He also organizes the weight room for all of Northern's athletic programs, is the sponsor for NSU's FCA and is the coordinator of the Wolves Challenge strength and conditioning program.
