Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy

Darcy is open to growth, but has a fear of intimacy perhaps due to his observations that marriage is often no more than a contrivance to better one's position and not an effect of love.  Because of this mistrust of people's intentions, he rationalizes that he is too grand for anyone and will never meet his equal.
