POSTED MARCH 13, 2020 - INFORMATION MAY HAVE CHANGED.

Students, faculty and staff,

For staff and faculty remaining on campus, as well as students who require campus housing, please know that we are taking numerous precautionary measures against the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Northern has canceled campus visits for next week, and postponed or canceled all large events through March 31. NSU Dining Services is moving toward pre-packaged items, with food delivery available on campus on a case-by-case basis.

We encourage everyone on campus to limit outside food delivery, and also to limit visitors to campus unless they are here for a specific purpose. The NSU Strength and Conditioning Center/Fitness Center in the Barnett Center will be closed.

Remember: It’s important that if you feel unwell, stay home. It’s also important to know the symptoms of the COVID-19 virus:

  • A fever over 100 degrees F
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath

If you’re experiencing these symptoms and think you may have COVID-19, please call your health care provider. (If it’s an emergency, call 911.)

If you have visited a high-risk area in the last 30 days, of if you’ve been exposed to someone with COVID-19, visit with your supervisor or residence hall staff about a self-quarantine and read the BOR HR Policies.

As of yet, no local cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Aberdeen or Brown County, though we will continue to monitor the situation. For more information, visit our COVID-19 Resource Page or call the South Dakota COVID hotline: 1-800-997-2880.

We understand that the uncertainty and constant changes of this situation can be frustrating. Please know that the health of our campus community is our top priority, and we will do what we can to keep everyone informed and safe. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility during this time!
