MR. STAN VINSON, INSTRUCTOR
Mr. Stan Vinson joined NSU Business School faculty in 2006 as an instructor in the new major, Banking and Financial Services. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics from Southern Oregon University, Ashland, Oregon, and an MBA from Willamette University, Salem Oregon. He is currently is working toward a Ph.D in Leadership and Change from Antioch University in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
Stan's professional experience includes 18 years as a Commercial Banker for a money center bank and seven years as Treasurer for a Fortune 500 multi-national engineering and construction company. As a practicing professional he has had experience in financings exceeding $1 billion, involvement in multiple merger and acquisitions and has considerable international experience – having worked in Canada, Asia and Europe extensively.
Teaching Philosophy
I introduce
students to financial services using a very
traditional academic approach – text books,
lecture and testing. I combine this with
presentations by financial service industry
professionals and use my 25 years industry
experience – to integrate the two approaches to
create learning. My goal is to prepare students
to become leaders in financial services
organizations and help them develop fulfilling
and rewarding long term careers.
