Research Interests

  • Patterns and mechanisms of seasonal acclimatization
My research interests are primarily centered on the flexibility of complex physiological traits related to seasonal acclimatization and how natural selection may shape these responses. I have investigated seasonal acclimatization mechanisms at multiple levels of organization, from the organism to sub-cellular, to identify key mechanisms involved with seasonal acclimatization. In addition, I am also interested in broader-scale differences in seasonal acclimatization patterns both within and between species.
  • Stopover ecology and energetics of Neotropical migrant birds during migration
I am also interested in Neotropical migrant birds during stopover and migration and how effectively migrants meet the energetic demands of migration at stopover sites in different habitats.
  • Other research interests

In addition to migrants, I am also interested in the ecology and phylogeography of breeding birds and other vertebrates.
