Identification Clues:
The leaves on this birch are ovate and somewhat diamond shaped. The bark is white and has noticeable lenticles. The trunk can either be divided or separated. The twigs are long, drooping, and hairless. 

Distribution:
The Weeping birch was introduced from Europe into the U.S.

Highlights:
In Europe, the birch is an important commercial hardwood source. It is strictly ornamental in the U.S.
