· Professor Dias said Jana Green emailed him and has some ideas she
wants to share with the group
· She wasn’t able to attend the meeting
· She will be contacted and her ideas will be shared with the
officers at the Officers’ Meeting on November 26th
· Scott suggested a Revenge of the Nerds theme with a couple of guys
surrounded by many girls
· Scott suggested a movie posters idea with Braveheart etc. posters
and faculty heads pasted on the bodies
· David suggested an Emperors Club theme
· Each faculty member represented by a ruler of his field of
expertise
· Marmorstein = Caesar
· Dias = FDR or Hitler
· OR just five historical figures
· Alexander the Great
· Napolean (suggested by Scott for Professor Dias)
· Keiser Wilhelm
· Montezuma (suggested by Jim for Dr. Grettler)
· Caligula
· Emperor Norton of San Francisco
· Abe Lincoln (suggested for Dr. Bartusis)
· Professor Dias stated, “Faculty don’t have to be on it,” and
encouraged students to be on the T-shirts instead. This was
overruled. Faculty will continue to be the featured subject.
· Possible tag lines
· “The rulers of men and teachers of history”
· “Ordained by God to rule the few”
· “The chosen few teach”
· Dakota Silk Screen can have T-shirts returned within two weeks
· Our goal is to have the T-shirts back before Christmas so people
can buy them as gifts
· Liz will contact Jake Bosmoe, Art Major at NSU to see if he is
interested in doing the artwork for the T-shirts
· Discussion to expand clothing line
· Maybe boxers with faculty faces
· Scarves
· 38th Annual Student History Conference in Vermillion
· Professor Dias and Dr. Grettler will drive students who want to
attend
· Conference will take place at USD on Thursday, April 24th
· This is a great opportunity to present papers or offer comments on
presented papers
· Papers should have a lot of primary documents
· Contact Professor Dias if want to attend
· Scott proposed we reschedule the Pierre trip to the SD Historical
Society
· We will try to go in January
· More information will be announced when the trip gets closer
· We will go to Bristol in April
· Game night after History Club meeting
· February or March – NOT 3/18-3/21 because CAB so active then
· Kory and the Fireflies (a SD band that’s made it to MTV) will be
playing that week
· We will try to borrow Shanna Dahl’s creation of WWII Jeopardy
· Grand prize: dinner at Professor Dias’s
· Second prize: dinner by President Scott
· Next club meeting will be scheduled at the Officers’ Meeting
· Movie brought to be watched: Thirteen Days
· Meeting concluded at 8:43 p.m.
