Pre-Professional Programs at NSU

Aiming to earn a degree in medicine, law, engineering, or another professional specialty? A degree from one of Northern's preprofessional programs can get you in the door.

At Northern, you can earn a customized Associate of Arts in General Studies degree that will fit initial requirements of your chosen professional degree offered at another school.

Northern's advisors will work closely with you, using the catalog from your chosen professional school, to determine acceptable core course selections and the electives for your AA degree.

Options include (Pre-) Dentistry, Medicine, Optometry, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Veterinary Medicine. A strong science or math background is beneficial for students wishing to pursue careers in these areas. Most students at Northern State University who are planning a career in the medical field major in Biology.
